About Pratyangira Devi
Pratyangira Devi is one of the most powerful deities in Hindu mythology, depicted with the face of a lion and the body of a human. According to legend, Goddess Pratyangira emerged from the third eye of Lord Shiva to calm the intense anger of Narasimha, an avatar of Vishnu. Her lion-headed form symbolizes courage, power, and the destruction of negative energies.
Devotees believe that Pratyangira Devi protects her followers with unmatched fierceness during times of difficulty. Many come to her temples to seek relief from negative forces, gain strength and courage, overcome obstacles, and achieve success and prosperity.
Among the many temples dedicated to Maa Pratyangira Devi, the Hosur temple is particularly notable for its towering statue of the goddess, visible from a great distance.
This temple draws devotees from all over India who come to offer prayers and participate in rituals aimed at removing negativity and fostering positivity.

Our Experience at Hosur Pratyangira Devi Temple
We noticed significant changes in the temple’s interiors during our visit, and development work was still underway. Despite the ongoing renovations, the temple was bustling with devotees, especially during the weekends. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long to complete our rituals.
Evil Eye Ritual at Hosur Pratyangira Devi Temple
One unique ritual we encountered was the removal of the evil eye. For a nominal fee of Rs. 10 for a lemon and Rs. 10 for the person performing the ritual, this practice attracted many believers. It was fascinating to observe and participate in this traditional act of warding off negativity.Yellow threads for marriage-related issues |
Another intriguing sight was devotees tying yellow threads to a spear, symbolizing prayers for resolving family issues and delays in marriage. This act of faith added a profound dimension to our visit.
